May 26, 2022: A Good Day
The past 24 hours were pretty good for Mom. The pain and other symptoms are reduced; pain spiked to a 5/10 last evening, but we were able to resolve it quickly. Mom had some visitors — 2 grandchildren and a friend came over in the afternoon and stayed for dinner, and I brought back two of my kids and my wife for a visit at the end of the day. We are all masking indoors or trying to move outside and keeping our distance. The fatigue is still stronger than before, but it is not keeping Mom from doing whatever she wants to do. Mom slept through the night without any real issues, and her appetite is much stronger, even in the early morning. I figure if you can eat and sleep and hang out with people, you are doing OK. My older sister is coming down today to spell me, and my Mom’s older sister is flying in from AZ tonight.
NOTE: If you are planning to stop by, we are asking all visitors to please wear a mask indoors around Mom and to maintain 6′ physical distancing.
May 25, 2022: A Medium Day
Mom is still dealing with some increased fatigue and increased pain, and decreased appetite. Overall, not a bad past 24-hours. Mom slept through the night and has been up baking and spending time outside with Pop. Just not quite all the way to green yet.
NOTE: If you are planning to stop by, we are asking all visitors to please wear a mask indoors around Mom, and to maintain 6′ physical distancing.
May 24, 2022: A Medium Day
Overnight Mom continued her fatigue and slept all the way through till about 7:00 a.m. However, the pain came on strong this morning and it was quite overwhelming for a bit. We were able to get on top of it and then it seemed like Mom had a breakthrough of sorts; a sustained burst of energy led to some deep cleaning, a batch of cookies made for a neighbor’s birthday, a walk around the block, and even a trip out to Kohl’s with my dad. I feel like Mom is through whatever weeds she was in, and I am hopeful for a nice string of Green days after today.
May 23, 2022: A Medium Day
Mom has had an OK past 24 hours; however, her fatigue has been overwhelming. Again, for this stage in the process, I don’t think this is out of the ordinary or unexpected. I am grateful that her other symptoms have been manageable and have not kept her from sleeping; most of the time that I have been here today, Mom has been asleep. Her appetite is very low these past 24 hours; we’d all like to see that pick back up soon. Otherwise, all quiet here.
May 22, 2022: A Good Day
The last 24 hours were fine. Mom has some increased fatigue today, but today is the first day without steroids, so that is to be expected. Not much appetite during the day, but had some snacks and dinner in the evening. Some pain, some nausea, all managed. Her sister slept over last night, and tonight she and Pop will be on their own again.
